Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Kate Raley Catoe. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Kershaw, a former Training Union teacher and a former member of the Homemakers Club of Kershaw.

Surviving are her husband [now deceased], daughters, a sister, a brother, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
