Blondell Thurman Sasser, 91, of Panama City, Fla. went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, October 31.Mrs. Sasser was born to the late Luther and Maggie Thurman, July 17, 1921 in the Faydette community of Geneva County, Ala. She married the late John Q. Sasser, Sr. in 1937 and during their 57 year marriage they lived in Slocomb, Ala., Columbus, Ga., and Orlando, Fla. before moving to Panama City in 1957. She was part of the original staff that opened the W.T. Grant department store in the Panama Plaza Shopping Center in the early 1960s. She worked there until the store's closing in 1975 and then joined the C.G. Gayfer Company where she was part of the management team that established the anchor store in the Panama City Mall in 1976. She retired as a buyer from Dillard's department store in 1986.

Mrs. Sasser was a member of the Westview Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth.

She is survived by three sons: John Q. Sasser, Jr., and his wife Marilyn of Jacksonville, Fla.; Bob Sasser, and his wife Pam of Virginia Beach, Va.; and Michael Sasser of Tallahassee, Fla. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Kent Forest Lawn funeral home, Saturday, November 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Sasser will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 4 at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Dr. Kenneth A. Finch will officiate.

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." (II Corinthians 5:8).
