Michele Keilty Kamerzel Michele Keilty Kamerzel, died Tuesday, Nov-ember 4, 2008 in Waterbury Hospital, Water-bury. Michele was born September 9, 1947 in Rutland, Vt. Michele was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin and her parents, Thomas Keilty and Helen Theresa Kent. She is survived by her son, Brian Kamerzel of New York City; her daughter, Lauren Kamerzel and son-in-law, Christopher Smith of Arlington, Mass.; three loving sisters, Marilyn, Patricia and Claire; and two loving brothers, Gary and Tim; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was a loving, caring, individual who truly made the world a better place. She graduated from Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt. and was a high school teacher in Brookfield. She went back to school and received her Masters in Education in Business Education from Central Connecticut State University. She continued her professional career as a fifth grade teacher at Memorial Middle School and continued at Middlebury Elementary School in Middlebury, until her retirement. She developed a strong and large circle of friends, some of whom were with her and her family when she passed away. Michele directed, with Ed's help, the MES Relay for Life for many years. Her strong commitment to her community was evidenced by her incorporation of the UNICEF collection program in math classes, bookmarks for local children in local hospitals, organization of fund raising for Hurricane Katrina families, Mom & Student making sandwiches for the local food bank, creation of quilting squares done as part of her math class, which was donated to the Middlebury Convalescent Home, and cards for American Veterans. Visiting hours will be held in Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, Friday, November 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at United Church of Christ, Main Street North in Southbury, Saturday November 8 at 11 o'clock. Michele will be interred beside her husband in Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury. The family asks that donations be made to the Harold J. Leever Cancer Center Indigent Fund, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
