Note: The headstone for Elizabeth HILL RICHESON is a replacement. An older one was photographed by a descendant in 2001, but its location or disposal was unknown to the caretaker by 2009. The base appears to be original. None of the local monument companies have a record of making the stone now standing, nor is it known who placed it or exactly when.

Elizabeth HILL was the daughter of Elizabeth TUCKER and Dabney HILL of VA. Sorting out her ancestors has proven difficult, since several generations of TUCKERS and HILLS intermarried in VA. Her father owned slaves, but apparently Elizabeth and her husband John did not.

She was the second wife of John RICHESON (after Susan RUCKER). Although both Elizabeth and John were born in VA, they moved to Missouri around 1857 where they farmed with most of their children near Bogard (now Bogart) in Carroll county.

It is possible some of the earliest born children listed remained in VA. It is unclear just how many of John's children were by his first wife, Susan RUCKER.
