Catherine Cato Drown, 79, of Pensacola, passed away Sunday, October 12th at her home. Mrs. Drown was born in Freeport, Florida, on April 18, 1929, to Calvin Hollis and Willie (McKinney) Adams. She was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and West Pensacola Chapter # 252, Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Drown was a Past Matron of West Pensacola, and served as Grand Representative of Washington, D.C. in Florida. She also served as Mother Advisor of West Florida Assembly # 91, International Order of the Rainbow Girls and was a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph I. Cato, to whom she was married 52 years, her mother and father, two brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband of eight years, Wayne A Drown, Sr., her brother, Robert (Faye) Adams of Holley, her son, Joseph M. (Gerry Lynn) Cato, of Pensacola, her daughters Carolyn C. (Barry) Smith, of Pensacola and Martha (Monte) Fillingim, of Grant, New Mexico, four grandchildren, Tonya (Terry) Baker of Tallahassee, Patricia Smith of Pensacola, Jason Cato of Pensacola, and Michelle (Alain) Espinosa of Chadsworth, GA; nine Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, October 17, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Barry Smith, Monte Fillingim, Jason Cato, Terry Baker, Wayne A. Drown, Jr. and Ronald Parks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Clarence Ed Lee and members of the Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be at Milton Cemetery with Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home directing. EASTERN GATE MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME in charge of all arrangements.
