Rudolph "Rudy" Jost IV, 56, also known to his friends as 'Rude Dog' lost his battle with cancer and died at home on Aug. 8, 2008. He was born June 15, 1952, in Leavenworth, where he lived his most of his life. Rudy was the son of Rudolph and Mary Jayne (Smith) Jost Jr. Rudy was a Navy veteran and a self-employed painter. He also worked preparing income taxes, home care nursing, roofing and general home repair. He was married to Lu Ann Shane. This marriage was later dissolved. Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Jost, III.; his step-father, Charles Nichols Sr.; his brother, Bruce Wayne; and a step-sister, Ginger Forge. He is survived by his daughter and grandson, Jodi Jost and Christian of Maryland; his mother, Mary Jayne Nichols of Leavenworth; his sisters, Floranne Long, Ardith Bequette, Bonnie Biehn, and Janith Williams all of Leavenworth; his brothers, John Jost of Leavenworth, and James Jost of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his step-brothers, Charles Nichols, Jr., and John Nichols both of Leavenworth; his step-sisters, Carolyn Hendrickson of Tampa, Fla., Candice Haislip of Tonganoxie, Kan., and Janelle Baughman of Noel Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Burial with Navy honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
