Mrs. Elva E. Devenport, of Jackson, died July 25, 1987 at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was 92. She was born December 4, 1894 near Patton, daughter of William and Minnie (Doggett) Mayfield, Jr.
She married Fred Devenport on September 23, 1910. He died April 7, 1963.
She moved to Jackson in 1973 from her farm at Patton. For the past two years she lived in Jackson Manor.
She was a member of Little Whitewater Baptist Church of Patton for more than 60 years; but presently a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
She is survived by two sons, Harold Devenport of Columbia, IL; and Darrel Devenport of Marble Hill, MO; two daughters, Mrs. Wilberd Shell (Viola) Seabaugh of Florence, CA; and Mrs. Charles (Iola) Newman of Florissant, MO; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, five brothers, and one sister; three grandchildren and one great-grandson preceded her in death.
Service was Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in Patton Cemetery.
