In 1870, Elizabeth married Stephen "Spencer" Henry Carpenter,
born March 8, 1844 of Marietta, Ohio. Spencer was a flagman for the Railroad.

According to the August of 1870 Census Report, taken in Austin, Travis County, Texas, Elizabeth is 32 and Spencer is 27.

Elizabeth Long Carpenter died August 1, 1914 and is buried in the East Mount Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. Spencer Carpenter died August 20, 1922 and is buried beside her.
