After his mother died leaving a young George, he was adopted by his childless aunt Margaret (Brown) & her husband Samuel Barber (she was the sister of George's father). The Barbers also adopted and raised Jane Koots. George and Jane would later marry.
The Barbers owned their home at Turtle Creek, PA, which they left to George & Jane, which later George & Jane left to their own children.
George married Jane Koots Barber about 1820 in Allegheny County, Pa. They had seven children: Margaret, Mary Ellen, Sarah Jane, Samuel Barber, WIlliam, Nancy Jane and John G. Mc.
George died April 22, 1842 in Turtle Creek, Allegheny County, Pa. and is laid to rest along side his wife Jane Koots Brown in Beulah United Presbyterian Cemetery, Churchill Borough, Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
