Veteran - Civil War 9th Michigan Infantry

Joel Dunn was the eldest of 10 children and never married.
He was born in the state of New York on March 1838. When he was a small child, he came with his parents to Michigan settling in the southern part of Delhi Township. He and two brothers fought in the Civil War with the 9th Michigan Infantry.

He resided for than than 30 years in the family of his cousin, Mrs. S. B. Davis of Onondaga. He also resided in the home of Willima Dunn of Lansing and also in the home of Ada Parker of Aurelius. Several times in the past twenty years, he wintered in Florida or California and always stopped en route on his California trip to visit his brother's family in Iowa.

Joel Dunn, an 87 year old veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of Mrs. Ada Parker in Aurelius, Tuesday evening, February 14, 1925 from gangrene resulting from an ingrowing toe-nail and had been sufferng for many weeks. Funeral services were held from the Parker home on Thursday afternoon, February 26, 1925 with interment in the Aurelius Cemetery.
