Minnie Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerd P. Meyer, was born May 29, 1886, on a farm northwest of Fairbury, Nebraska, and departed this life at the Lynch Clinic in Fairbury, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1962, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 2 days. On Febr. 24, 1909, she was united in marriage to John B. Kahler. To this union, five children were born, 4 sons and 1 daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Kahler resided on a farm 3 miles west and 1 and 1/2 miles north of Fairbury for 8 years, then purchased a farm 8 miles north of Fairbury. From there, they moved to Stanton County, Nebr., where they resided for 15 years. In 1944, they returned to Fairbury where they lived at 815 4th street for 4 years, and then returned to Powell, Nebr., and the farm where they resided until the time of her passing. In 1959, she and her husband celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. This couple was blessed by 4 sons, and 1 daughter. Their daughter, Marie, passed away in 1919, at the age of 6 months. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Meyer, two brothers, Harm and John Meyer, and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Aden, Mrs. Kate Plies, and Mrs. Stena Fiene. Survivors include her loving husband John Kahler, her 4 sons, Everett Kahler, of Fairbury, Harold Kahler of West Point, Nebr., George Kahler and Marvin Kahler both of Detroit, Michigan, their wives and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Hiddie Meyer of Fairbury, and Rev. Peter G. Meyer of Tobias, Nebr., and one sister Mrs. Mary Sohl of Hastings, Nebr., and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
