Bazil Robert Ferguson, son of Richard and Mary "Polly" Shanklin Ferguson, was born on March 12, 1828, in Bullitt County, Kentucky. He married Perlina Quick on December 12, 1854, in his hometown. They had at least three children during their marriage. Before his marriage, Bazil worked on his father's farm as a cooper, but after marrying Perlina, he bought a small farm and built it up to a fairly sizeable farm over time. He died on June 9, 1902, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 74, and is buried next to his wife and near his parents in the Ferguson Family Cemetery in Brooks, Kentucky.
