4 Jul 2008: Frederick E. Homan, 93, of State College, died July 2, 2008 at The Fairways at Brookline Village. He was born in Oak Hall on April 13, 1915 to Waldo and AnnaBelle Sunday Homan. He graduated from Harris Twp. Vocational School in 1934. He farmed and worked for C. Y. Wagner Mills of Bellefonte before serving for three years in the U.S. Army beginning in 1942. While serving in England he met Ella Forbes, who later moved to the United States. They married in October 1946. They resided at their farm on Linden Hall Road with their daughter Marilyn, who passed away in 1996. Fred was an active member of numerous organizations including the Elks, the Masonic Order, the American Legion, the VFW and the Boalsburg Cemetery Association. He was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church and a 27 year member of the Grange Fair. He is survived by his wife of 62 years and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his daughter and parents, he is predeceased by four brothers, David, Eugene, Blair and Paul; and two sisters, Miriam and Rosella. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Koch Funeral Home at 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery. [Centre Daily]
