ALBANY, OREGON, April 13 (Special)--John Bryant, whose funeral occurred in Albany on April 9, was one of the early pioneers of Oregon, having crossed the plains with an ox team in 1852. Mr. Bryant was born in Virginia, October 3, 1827. When yet a boy, he moved to Missouri, where he married Lucinda Bilyeu in 1847.
After the long journey to Oregon, Mr. Bryant settled on a donation land claim in Jordan Valley, Linn County, where for 40 years he resided. A few years ago, Mr. Bryant moved with his aged wife to Albany, where he spent his last days with his children.
John Bryant was a member of the lower house of the Oregon Legislature in 1869 and belonged to the Masonic fraternity. He is survived by a wife and four children. The children are H. Bryant of Albany; Mrs. T. P. Goodman of Stayton; Mrs. A. T. McCully of Halsey; Mrs. A. J. Shelton of Condon.
