DESPONDENCY
Caused by Ill Health Cause Frank King to Take His Own Life.
Frank King succumbed to the effects of paris green and carbolic acid taken with suicidal intent, on last Sunday. He had been brooking for some time over his health, and was constantly apprehensive that the ravages of tuberculosis would overtake him.
He left home early Sunday morning, and his wife, fearful that he might come to harm, started to go out of the house, to look for him, when he staggered into the room. Mrs. King immediately perceived from his appearance, that he had taken poison, and a physician was called. It was found he had taken a quantity of carbolic acid, and after much work his sufferings were relieved.
Still intent upon taking his life, about 2:30 in the afternoon he procured more poison, the taking of which resulted in death. Dr. Hannahan of Needham, was called to the scene. Upon questioning King as to what he had taken, he at first made no reply, but finally told he had swallowed paris green. Medicine to produce vomiting was administered, and so great headway had the poison gained, that portions of the stomach were thrown up.
He lingered with much suffering until about 10:30 Sunday night when he expired.
The members of the immediate family that survive him are the wife and four children. Mr. King lived on the farm of A. D. Sullivan, in Clark township, and was a man well thought of by all who knew him. His untimely death is a source of much regret to his many friends. The funeral services were held at Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church Tuesday morning at 11:00, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Huckleberry.
