Carrie Ann Thomas was a small woman with coal black hair and a hump on her back. She was the daughter of Daniel Jacob Thomas and Maggie Missouri Holman and was born in Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina. Her family moved to Montgomery Co., Texas in 1875 when she was very young. She married James Robert "Bob" Martin on 29 Jan 1890 in Montgomery Co., Texas. In 1915 they moved to Polk County. They had ten children, all born in Montgomery County.
