Fred was the son of James Robert Martin and Carrie Ann Thomas. He moved to Polk County with his family about 1915 from Montgomery County. He married Nettie Verne Turner on 14 Apr 1918. They had five children: Fred, Jr., Pauline, Beatrice, Mary and James L. Martin.
He was a farmer in Polk County and worked for The Texas Company Oil Refinery in Port Arthur until he retired.

Fred. P. Martin Funeral Services At Bold Springs

Services were held at the Bold Springs Cemetery Monday, April 16, for Fred Perry Martin, 62, retired Texas Company employee and former farmer in Polk County. The Revs. Wade Hopkin, R. C. Vance and C. L. Moore officiated. Interment followed in the Bold Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Martin was born in Conroe July 7, 1893, and moved to Livingston when he was about 20 years of age. He farmed in Polk County until 1942 at which time he moved to Port Arthur to work in the Texas Company refinery. He retired for reasons of health on May 1, 1954, and was retired at the time of his passing.

Mr. Martin was united in marriage April 14, 1918, to Nettie Verne Turner. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Port Arthur, and also a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Fred. P. Martin, Jr., of Port Arthur and James Lyndon Martin of Livingston, three daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Wilkerson, Port Arthur, Mrs. Pauline Camp and Miss Mary Martin, Houston, two brothers, Robert Martin of Port Arthur and Dan Martin of Livingston, three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Watts and Mrs. Hortense Phillips of Livingston and Mrs. Johnny Turner of Port Arthur, and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Nolan Watts, A. T. Watts, Charlie Thomas, June Marsh and Horace Bond.

Pace Funeral Home of Livingston was in charge of arrangements.
