James Robert "Bob" Martin was born in Dale Co., AL to John H. Martin and Sarah Ann Hood. He moved to Montgomery Co., Texas with his family in about 1880. He married Carrie Ann Thomas on 29 Jan 1890 in Montgomery County. They moved to Polk County in 1915. They had ten children: Daniel Lee, Fred Perry, Daniel Thomas, Maggie Bell, Harry Smith, Bonnie Flossie, Robert Covie, Ella Carline, Mattie Lee and Mary Hortense Martin.
