He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton.
He was a 1954 graduate of Hazleton High School. In his youth he was know as Bernard and "Bernie".
Norman was a US Navy veteran. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the Chem Lab at PPL.
He was an avid hunter and gun collector. He frequently shot at the Nescopeck Hunting & Rifle Club.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Raymond Bodner. His brother Michael Bodnar subsequently passed away in 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Darrin and Andrew (Drew); three grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon and Julia; his sister-in-law, Anna, Hazleton, wife of Michael; sister-in-law Mary Jane Bodner, Maryland, wife of Raymond; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton. Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery, Drums. The Rev. Peter Donish conducted a Parastas services in the evening at the funeral home.
