Sgt. William (Harold) Wilkinson was the seventh child born to William Ruffin Wilkinson and Lilla Belle Cook Wilkinson. Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII in North Africa and also fought in the Battle of Anzio Beachhead. He was killed on the road to Rome near Cisterna, Italy, hit by shell fire and buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Nettuno. His body was returned and re-interned at Hardeman on July 28, 1948. Received many awards and medals including the Purple Heart.
