Ingeborg Tongedahl was born on January 31, 1909 in Norway. She passed away peacefully on June 18, 2008. She immigrated to America in 1927 and lived for awhile in Seabeck, Washington with her uncle Ivar and brother Haldor. She then moved to Tacoma where she got a job working at Tacoma Hotel and then at the Winthrop Hotel during the day and went to evening classes to learn the English language. It was at this school that she met Karl Tongedahl and on July 7, 1934, they married. They had three children, Allan Tongedahl, Ruth Tongedahl Stotts and Korine Tongedahl DeKoker. They were life long members of Bethel Christian Assembly. After raising her children, Inge began working at The College of Puget Sound (now UPS) where she had a 20 plus year career. She was preceded in death by one brother Haldor Dahl, four sisters, Lina Stakset, Martha Kvamme, Dena Dahl and her twin Anna Strom, her husband Karl Tongedahl, her daughter Ruth Stotts, and one granddaughter Renee Stotts. Inge had a great gift of hospitality and loved to cook many fabulous meals for relatives and friends. She always remembered everyone's favorite meal. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet gentle spirit, the great dinners she prepared and her famous chocolate chip cookies, rolls and lefse. She is survived by her son Allan (Marianne), daughter Korine (Mel), son-in-law Robert Stotts (Donna), two brothers Anders Dahl, Alf Dahl, eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the privilege of living at Korine's new home in Auburn for the past four years until her declining health made it necessary to move into Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates. Thanks to the staff there for making her comfortable during her final few months. She made a positive impact on staff and other residents alike. Viewing will be held in the Evergreen Chapel at New Tacoma Cemeteries and Funeral Home on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 1:00pm. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm.
