Gertie Alford Langley of Vancleave, MS., died Friday, May 23, 2008, at River Chase Village Nursing Home in Gautier.

Mrs. Langley was born on May 3, 1918, in Carroll County, MS, the daughter of the late George Bedford Alford and Myrtle Mae Berry. She graduated from Vaiden High School and spent most of her adult life in Greenville, MS where she retired from Mohasco/Greenville Mills. Upon her second marriage to the late George William Langley, she moved to Wiggins, MS and from there made her last home in Vancleave, MS.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Arold Abraham Alford and Arthur Edward Alford.

Survivors include her only daughter, Sharon Findley Harper (William Thomas) of Vancleave and three loving grandchildren, Louisa H. Miller (Scott), William Blackburn Harper, and Matthews Howard Harper, four sisters, Alberta A. Huckaba, Menden, NV, Blanche A. Pounds, Prescott, AZ, Ruby Nell A. Davis, Baton Rouge, LA, and Juanita A. Bible, Siloam Springs, AR.

Private graveside services were held Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, MS.

The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
