Montgomery, Alabama - Willie was a truck driver on his way to work when he was stopped by 4 klansmen. The men thought Edwards was another man who they believe was dating a white woman. They forced Edwards to jump off a bridge at gunpoint into the Alabama River. His body was found 3 months later.

Edwards was a Winn Dixie truck driver. On January 23, 1957, Edwards was abducted by Klansmen and was ordered to jump off of the Tyler-Goodwin Bridge into the Alabama River. He had a daughter Malinda who was 5 at the time.
