s/o John C and Mary Ann (Wayne) Fox soon after his birth moved to Lebanon OH
When nine years of age, both parents died. He was raised by Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Charles Fox
His English ancestors George and John founded the Society of Friends (Quakers) in 17th Century.
His American family descends from Edmund and Samuel Fuller who survived the first years at Plymouth and came to America on the Mayflower.

He received his education including Law in Lebanon was admitted to the bar in 1870.
In 1872 elected Mayor and Police Chief of Lebanon.

First marriage to Kitty Hargus of Lebanon OH who died in 1889 at Arcadia Mo.

In 1876 he came to the Ozarks and in 1892 met and married Maria Russell.
Was a US Commissioner at Ironton 1893-97.
Taught at the Log Cabin school at Ebo, also Lesterville. Elected Superintendent of Wash Co in 1909 where he remained until retirement in 1928.
He was an educator for 44 years.
During these years he wrote many magazine and newspaper articles of historical and political interest. Was also particularly gifted in the art of writing fiction. Was associate editor for the newspapers the Iron Co Register and the Potosi Independent.
