MARSHALL PAULA OSCHEGGER In Albany, August 11, 2002, Paula Oschegger Marshall, dearly beloved of the late Clarence Edward Marshall, Sr., and mother of the late Clarence Edward Marshall, Jr. She is survived by sisters, Regine Pressler of El Cerrito and Marie Jennings of Pinole, grandson Robert James Marshall, granddaughter Jude Marshall and great-granddaughter, Glacier Ethyl Marshall, all of Albany, as well as many nieces and nephews. A native of Suetschach, Karnten, Austria, aged 91 years, four months and 18 days. Paula overcame many challenges during her life, including living only miles from the Italian front in World War I, the loss of her mother at an early age, and coming to the United States just in time to experience the Great Depression. After raising her only child, she continued to nurture young children, spending countless hours watching relatives' children, and eventually had a big hand in raising her grandchildren. After the loss of her husband on Christmas Day 1964, she re-entered the workforce as a health-care provider, taking care of elderly people, allowing them to remain in their own homes. In her later years, prior to declining health, she had a special companion in Glacier Ethyl. Though a canine, Paula talked with her and treated her just as if she were a human being which included taking care of family, painting, and cooking, especially making her wonderful Christmas cakes every December. Friends, relatives and acquaintances are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, August 16th, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in San Pablo. Visitation hours are from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wilson & Kratzer-Chapel of the Mission Bells, 13644 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 2560 Church Lane, San Pablo. Following burial services, a luncheon will be served in Paula's honor at Christ Lutheran Church, 780 Ashbury Avenue, El Cerrito. WILSON & KRATZER CHAPEL OF MISSION BELLS (510) 232-6552.
