Son of Joseph Lessner and Auguste nee Lietka who were married in 1868 in Luzino, Poland (formerly Lusin, West Prussia). The three immigrated to New York City in June of 1872. Clarence was his American name. The ship's manifest says Wladyslaw. The associated baptismal record in Reda has been transcribed Mieczyslaus Adolf. Note that he might have been born in a village near Reda. He married Mamie Howe in 1894.
