Elizabeth Anne Mason, 90, of Coralville passed away on January 4, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Gravesides services will be held later this spring at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Anne was born February 20, 1933 in Geneva County, Alabama to Wyatt and Blonnie Golson. She married Roy Allan Edwards on December 31. 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama and together they raised four children, residing with their children in Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, and Iowa before later divorcing in 1985. During their marriage they traveled extensively, crossing the United States to visit almost every state. Anne was an avid traveler, traveling in 1985 with her daughter Karen to Europe for a month and taking numerous trips with Roy for his work. While residing in Ames, Iowa, Anne returned to college and earned her Nursing Degree. Anne worked as a nurse at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames; for a physician's clinic in Boone, Iowa; for Hendersonville Medical Center outside of Nashville, Tennessee; and for St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she worked until her retirement.

While in Cedar Rapids, friends engaged in some matchmaking and she met Dr. Robert "Bob" Mason. The couple married on January 23, 1988, and enjoyed nearly 36 years of marriage. They made their permanent home initially in Cedar Rapids, where Bob was a dentist for almost 40 years. After the two retired, they purchased a winter home in Naples, Florida, where they enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, fishing, attending orchestra events, walking on the beach, and dining with their friends at the country club. Anne and Bob were accomplished golfers, often winning tournaments at the Cedar Rapids Country Club and the other golf courses where they lived. Anne and Bob returned to Iowa during the summer months to spend time with family and grandchildren but eventually the Iowa winters were just too much. They moved to Naples to enjoy the warm and sunny weather full-time with their beloved dachshund, Bentley.

Anne's children and grandchildren would visit during spring breaks and Anne and Bob took vacations with Anne's children and grandchildren to places such as Ashville, North Carolina, and the Apostle Islands in Michigan. As Anne and Bob continued in their retirement, Anne's son Steve provided support and assistance to them in Florida, especially when a hurricane resulted in damage to their home. After the repairs were completed, Anne and Bob decided to move to Pinehurst, North Carolina, and built their favorite house in a golfing community with pine trees and lakes. Steve relocated to assist them as well, until they finally decided to return to Iowa to be closer to family.

Anne and Bob moved to North Liberty, Iowa in June of 2019, where they lived until moving to Coralville in 2020 for more assistance in an independent living community. Anne was a skilled gardener, a competitive bridge and domino player, and a fantastic cook. She loved to dance and sing and literally had a song for everything. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She made her grandchildren laugh with her sense of humor. She was fiercely independent. She is survived by her husband Bob Mason of Amana, IA, four children Sandra Edwards of Cedar Rapids, IA, Karen (Scott) Egerton of Coralville, IA, Steven Edwards of Ames, IA, and Jennifer (Jim) Passini of Malden, IL, grandchildren Lauren (Phillip) Wilken, Rachel (Jeremy) Coronado, Marshall Egerton, Emily Passini, Nicholas Passini, and, great grandchildren Charlotte, Foster, Ada and Bridget Wilken, and Cameron Coronado, and two siblings Mary "Audrey" Lamar of Dothan, AL, and Lloyd Golson of Navarre, FL., and her loving niece Linda Golson, of Canton, Mississippi. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Wilton Golson, Lonie Bell "Jo" Patterson, and infant sister Lois Golson. She will be dearly missed.
