Professional Baseball Player. During her time in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) from 1948 through 1954, she was an American left fielder who played for the Fort Wayne Daisies (1948–1953) and the South Bend Blue Sox (1954). She initially started her career as a right fielder but had to switch to the left field position when the left fielder broke an ankle while sliding into second base. Over the course of her six-year career, she played in a total of 691 games, batting in 301 runs and made 43 home runs with a batting average of .258. She played an instrumental role in helping Fort Wayne win pennants in both 1952 and 1953. Finally, her contribution to the sport of baseball was acknowledged when she was inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame in 2013.
