Memorial Mass for John E. Bauman, 91, Burr Oak, Mich., will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Church, Kansas City, Mo. A graveside committal will be in Burr Oak (Mich.) Cemetery.

Mr. Bauman died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Sturgis (Mich.) Hospital.

He was born March 27, 1909, in Fawn River, Mich., the son of William John and Lena (Adam) Bauman. He graduated from Burr Oak (Mich.) High School and Western Michigan University.

Mr. Bauman worked in the paper and paper products industry for 60 years as a scientist, manager and executive. He worked for K.V.P., Parchment, Mich., until 1943 when he went to work for Solo Cup Co., Chicago.

He moved to Kansas City in 1952 and built and managed the Solo Cup Co., Grandview, Mo., and retired in 1976, continuing as a consultant and scientist for Solo Cup Co. until age 84.

He had been a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Burr Oak (Mich.) school board, and had served as a Eucharistic minister to the sick and shut-ins at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sturgis, Mich.

He married Theresa Wauchek on April 10, 1932. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, John E. Bauman Jr., Columbia; the Rev. William A. Bauman, Kansas City, Mo., and L. Joseph Bauman, Baldwin, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Ann Yeats, Perth, Western Australia; and Linda Marie Shumway, Camdenton; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
