Soccer player. Gabriel Badilla Segura was a Costa Rican soccer player recognized for his defensive ability and his ability to lead on the field. He was considered one of the best soccer players in his country. Badilla spent the first seven years of his sports career at Deportivo Saprissa, where he made his debut with the first team on December 4, 2001, at the age of 17. He participated in the Costa Rican First Division leagues, the UNCAF Interclub Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup and the Cup Tournament. In December 2005 he participated in the historic third place in the Club World Cup, then he became part of New England Revolution of Major League Soccer and retired with Saprissa on June 26, 2016.
