Ole Pedersen was born 29, March 1831 a son of Peder Anderson and Aase Sibjornsen. They lived in Hassell, Buskerud, Norway, on a farm which was net productive, therefore they moved to Dramen. The City was larger and provided a better living for them. There were three children, Paul, Dorthea and Ole. Ole was a handsome young man, had a keen mind and learned many trades. He was 12 years of age and had a opportunity to work on a ship going to Oslo. He loved the sea and was happy to have the job. The work paid his fare and gave him a little money for his pocket. Ole visited the fisheries, then the Foundries and Steel Mills. He was fascinated with the magic of the molding and forging of the steel. This was what he wanted to learn. Ole found ready employment in the foundry and loved his work. The elder men were his teachers. No better schooling could be than by experienced masters of the trade. Ole made many friends, his good nature won them over. After a long hot day at the Foundry all the men would go to a tavern and had ale or beer. They enjoyed each others company.

On the 17th of May Norway celebrates its Independence Day. They all wore their native costumes and danced and had picnics in the parks. It was a most colorful celebration. The year was 1854 when Ole met Ingeborg at the picnic. From then on Ole courted Ingeborg and they fell in love and were married. Nine children were born to them. Their names are as follows; Peder, Hans Joseph, Johanna Rachel, Oluf I, Marie Alvilda, Helga, Josephine, Helmar Johannes, Jenny Agusta, and Helmar Amandus.
