A man shot his estranged wife and her father in this rural community late Sunday before killing himself, the Berkeley County Coroner's Office said.

The couple's 13-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter were in the house at the time of the shooting, relatives said.

The murder-suicide happened at the home where the wife, 31-year-old Teniel Johnson, lived on 320 McDaniel Lane around 11:30 p.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury said. Her father, Vincent Carter, 50, lived next door and had been at her house. Carter was a welder and a deacon at Berkeley Church of Christ in Moncks Corner.

The husband, 34-year-old Arial Johnson, entered through the front door and shot Carter with a handgun, Salisbury said. Then he went down the hall and shot his wife in the bedroom, before shooting himself.

Teniel and Arial Johnson had been separated for a couple of months and relatives say Arial had a restraining order against her estranged husband. They also said he had repeatedly violated that order.

All three died at the home.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office was investigating.

Cause of Death: Murdered by daughter's estranged husband, Arial Johnson.
