Felton Maurice Myers, Sr., was born on January 19, 1943 in Palmetto, Louisiana to Rufus Myers, Sr., and Theresa Stelly-Myers. He was the third child of six children from this union. Later, when his father married Irene Songs, six more children were added to his family. When he became an adult, he united in holy matrimony with Loretha Simon of Hockley, Texas on April 13, 1963. To this union, seven children were born: four sons and three daughters.

Felton worked as a welder for many years at Ingersoll Rand and when they closed shop, he worked for a short while at Cameron Iron until he started his own landscaping business, Myers Landscaping. He worked for many years in his landscaping business until he handed it over to his son, Joseph, to continue servicing his clientele.

Felton has been a faithful and longtime member of St. Monica Catholic Church and has served this faith community for over 40 years; he served as head usher at the 8am Mass in the old sanctuary. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Council #151, since March 16, 1980, for almost 43 years. He assisted Mr. Willie French with his ministry in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, picking up groceries. Felton was also in the Rosary Makers Ministry.

He was a committed and devoted husband and father, and he loved his family very much. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could repair any car, fix any plumbing, and pretty much anything he set his mind to do. He was musically inclined and enjoyed playing the guitar, accordion, harmonica, saxophone and tinkered a little on the piano. He loved riding motorcycles, until he had a bad accident that made him choose other, safer hobbies. Felton loved fishing, playing dominos, camping and was an amazing cook. In addition to his personal pursuits, he never met a stranger and would help anyone. His energy and eagerness to share Jesus with all who would listen was amazing. Felton never made a negative comment about anyone, nor would he allow someone else speak negatively about anyone in his presence. He would always pray for them to know Jesus so they could turn their lives around, always trying to give people a hand up, never beating them down with his words. He was a beautiful soul and he enjoyed life to the fullest.

On February 12, 2023, Felton won his long battle over Dementia and now has his crown of glory! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! Hallelujah! He now joins those that preceded him in death: His father, Rufus, Sr.,; his mother, Theresa Stelly-Myers; his stepmother, Irene Songs-Myers; his brothers, Warren Myers, Sr., and Cedrick Myers, Sr., and his sisters, Lou Ella Myers Ayers; Theresa Myers; Barbara Myers-Milligan; and his son, Joseph Troy Myers.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beautiful wife of 59 years, Loretha (Simon) Myers; his six children: Felton, Jr.,; Herbert Lee; Marilyn Adams (Cliff); Gregory (Camilla); Loretha Fielder; and Serena Gann (Joshua); 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; five brothers: Rufus Myers, Sr.,; Harry Myers; Joseph Myers; Allen Ray Myers; Ray Anthony Myers; two sisters: Helen Ann Myers and Sharon Myers Ellis; and his best friend and brother, Louis Simon, Jr., and host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
