Motion Picture Editor, Cinematographer, and Director. He studied at Colgate University and the University of Southern California before beginning his career in the industry as an equipment manager on the low-budget Comedy/Horror film "The Undertaker and His Pals" (1966). His first editing assignment was the low-budget "Lions Love" (1969) and beginning in the late 1970s, he found commercial success with "The Black Stallion" (1979) which earned him an Academy Award nomination. This was followed by "Raising Cain" (1992), "Jumanji" (1995), "October Sky" (1999), and "Jurassic Park III" (2001). Additionally, he directed the feature film "The Black Stallion Returns" (1983) and episodes from the TV programs "Crime Story," "Nova," and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."
