He was born at Port Orange on October 29, 1831, and was the son of Elisha Clark and Elizabeth Skinner. The greater part of his life was spent on the homestead where he died. He leaves a large circle of friends who deeply regret his death.
Mr. Clark was a veteran of the Civil War, having served three years in Company L, 143d Regiment, New York Infantry, being discharged from there July 20, 1865.
The surviving relatives are his wife [Mary E.] and four children: Samuel L., at home; U. G. Clark, of Middletown; William N. Clark, of Akron, O.; and Robert J. Clark, of Westbrookville; one brother, Elisha Clark, of Oakland; one sister, Mrs. Mary McCord, of Goshen; one half-sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore, of Middletown.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Westbrookville M. E. Church. Interment was in the Westbrookville Cemetery.
