"Sarah Leech, nee Long, was born in Mercer county, Pa., September 3rd, 1818, and died at the residence of her son W. F. Leech, in Oskaloosa, Kansas, February 20, 1897. She was married to Rev. Joshua Leech, September 24, 1833. They moved to Michigan in 1848 and thence to northeast Missouri in the fall of 1865, where he died October 4th, 1868.

Four sons and three daughters were born to them, two sons and two daughters are still living. They are, Aurilla Sutherland residing in Michigan, Agnes E. McLouth of this place, Wesley Leech of Adair county, Missouri and W. F. Leech of Oskaloosa.

Brother Leech was an itinerant Methodist preacher for many years in Michigan and Missouri, and at the time of his death was president of the north Missouri conference, comprising one-half of the state. Sister Leech was converted to God at the age of 20 years, and united with the Methodist church at the time. She has been a most devoted member ever since. The writer visited her the day she died and she gave clear testimony of the saving power of Christ and for a blessed hope beyond the grave.

The funeral services were conducted by the pastor at Oskaloosa and her remains were interred in the McLouth cemetery." The Oskaloosa Times (Oskaloosa, Kansas), February 26, 1897
