Actor. He started his career as a child actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood. His big break came when he won the role of Beau Wilkes, the son of Ashley Wilkes and Melanie Wilkes in "Gone with the Wind" in 1939. He also appeared in other films during that time period such as "Juarez" with Bette Davis, "Red River" with John Wayne, and "Broken Arrow" starring James Stewart. Between 1951 and 1955 he served in the United States Navy. Some of the other films he appeared in before retiring from acting included "Roughly Speaking," "The Return of Rusty," "Scene of the Crime," "A Streetcar Named Desire," and his final film, "Away All Boats." He received the Golden Boot Award for his significant contributions to the Western films. After retiring from acting, he worked for American Airlines (1965 to 1995) and the Boston airport in administrative positions. At the time of his death he was the last surviving cast member of "Gone with the Wind."
