In Ellwood Genealogy, Polly Ellwood birth date is given as 6 Jul 1788 Austin's wife, Polly Elwood, was the daughter of Richard Elwood and Catharine Bell (Pell sometimes given). Richard was a Revolutionary War veteran, Clyde's Reg't, Diefendorf's Co., Tryon County Troops. Miss Bell's mother was scalped and left for dead while she carried her during pregnancy.
