page 146, Volume 8, Record of service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civl War 1861-1865 by the Adjutant General

Of Note: The Beaufort National Cemetery was not established until 1863. Many burials of soldiers at that time were transferred from other locations. Sometimes they were moved more than once before they finally found their final resting place in the Beaufort National Cemetery. This is most likely the case with Pvt. Wood and the date of death obtained from the record book at the cemetery, 23 June 1862, is possibly the date from one of his moves prior to arriving at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
