Fred Henry Frieden, age 88, of Kahoka, MO, died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born August 13, 1911 at Elgin, IA, a son of Fred and Rose Grimm Frieden.
He married Verna Spiker on July 16, 1953 at LaGrange, MO
Survivors include his wife, Verna, of Kahoka, MO; one son Robert Frieden and his wife, Marylin of Morgan Hill, CA; one daughter, Patty Cockrell; one step-daughter, Shirley Jenkins of Fort Madison, IA; two brothers, Robert Frieden of Lincoln, NE and Dan Frieden of Quincy, IL; two sisters, Lena Meyers of Quincy, IL and Dorothy Ellison of Canton, MO; 5 grandchildren including Robert's children, Kristie Musso of Fountain Valley, CA, Kelly DeLeon of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and Bryan Frieden of Superior, CO; great-grandchildren, including Heidi, Haylie, Michael, Taylor, Bryce and Samantha; step grandchildren, Gene Jenkins of Sanford MI and Dean Jenkins of Hamilton, IL; step great grandchildren, Andrew and Joshua; as well as other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Leslie, Ben, Albert, Herman and John Frieden, and three sisters, Betty Hoerr, Rose Hoerr and Marie Frieden in infancy.
Prior to his retirement, Fred had been employed for 21 years at Shellor-Globe in Keokuk. He also helped with many auctions conducted by Alois Renner through the years and later for Campbell Auction Service and had been a purchaser for Gregory Antiques in Kahoka. Fred enjoyed having coffee wht his friends at Wayland, antiquing, and reading, especially western books.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday by Gerald Sutter at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Taylor, MO
