Singer, Songwriter, Record Producer. He was one third of the songwriting trio Holland-Dozier-Holland, known for co-writing hits for The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Isley Brothers, Martha & the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Mary Wells, Kim Weston and many more Motown artists. He helped to pen and produce more than 200 songs between 1962 and 1967. Before teaming as Holland-Dozier-Holland with Brian Holland and Eddie Holland, he recorded a few unsuccessful records for various Detroit labels. Holland-Dozier-Holland received numerous honors for their work as songwriters and record producers, including: inductions into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1988) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1990). Other honors include: recipients of the BMI Icons Award at the 51st BMI Pop Awards (2003) and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their contributions to music, located at 7070 Hollywood Blvd. He died at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was 81 years old.
