Son of John and Catherine Farrar Barnett of Goochland County, Virginia married Agnes Arlington and had five known children; Athanasius, David, Mary and Daniel Barnett

To all to whom this present writing shall come to know ye that I John Barnett of the county of Goochland send greeting know ye that I John Barnett being of a good and perfect mind and without Fraud or Deceit and for the consideration of Ten pounds Current money of Virginia as well as for the consideration of the natural affection and other good causes and consideration which I bare to my son Athanasins Barnett have given granted and by these presents do give grant and confirm unto my son Athanasins Barnett all that my tract or parcel of land lying in Goochland County on the Branches of Tuckahoe Creek containing by Estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less which tract of land was purchased of John Whitlow by a deed under the said Whitlow's hand and seal which deed being proved and recorded in the county court of Goochland doth fully appear and is bounded on the lines of John Watson, William Barnett, George Hancock, and the said John Watson . . . I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of August 1773. John Barnett. In presence of us Gideon Genre, Edward Barnett, William Barnet, Marhta (X) Barnett.

At a court held for Goochland County on September the 20th 1773, Martha Barnett (a Quaker) Solemnly affirmed as a Witness, and William and Edward Barnet proved this deed with the same affirmation to be the act & deed of John Barnett and were ordered to be recorded.
