Julie A. Barksi, age 98, of Berwick went home with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at home.
Born on June 19, 1923, she was the last surviving of seven children born to the late Nicholas and Angelina (Desidero) Dalberto. She attended Berwick schools. In her younger years, she co-owned Berwick Chocolate Novelties with her husband, Joseph Lamantia. After he became ill, they closed the business, and then she was employed at Bercon Industries until retirement.
Julie was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Joseph Parish, Berwick. She volunteered with church dinners and fund raising, and she helped cook the food for West Side Ballroom Bingo. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She made cakes for many birthdays and other celebrations. She was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in her family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Lamantia, in 1975; second husband, Frank Barski, in 1990; son-in-law, Earl "Mickey" Talanca; brothers: Anthony, James, Joseph, and Peter Dalberto; and sisters: Anna Altieri and Susan Bankes.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third St., Nescopeck, with the Rev. Francis Tamburro officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Berwick. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
