A son of Spencer Phillips Jr. & Sally Ann (Tidd) Phillips, also known as Pelatiah.

On 22 Oct 1850 the "Huron Reflector" said:
MARRIED,
In Hartland, on the 20th inst. by E.J. Wal-
dron, Esq., Mr. PELATIAH PHILLIPS to
Miss SARAH WELCH, all of Hartland.

They had 5 children, and sadly four did not survive to adulthood.
They were:
Sarah Ann Phillips, b. October 08, 1851 (Mrs. Chaffee)
Eleanor Phillips, b. July 1853 - d. 1865
Maria Phillips, b. August 10, 1856 - d. 1863
Achsah Phillips, b. January 28, 1859 - d. 1863
Ursula Phillips, b. 1864 - d. 1867

It is believed he lost his wife as a result of the birth of the last, Ursula.
He 4 years later on April 6, 1871 married Mary Ann Waddell in Knox County.

They had no children.
