Jennings: Dorothy Mae LeJeune Sonnier was born on Wednesday, April 6, 1932, to Artelus LeJeune and Alzena Kibodeaux LeJeune in Lake Arthur, LA and she was called to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the beautiful age of 91. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family; as well as being owner of Cary's Auto, and an assistant for Dr. Lester Ancelet. Dorothy was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She Liked to read dance, travel, and eat out. Her greatest joys came from spending time with all of her family, especially her great granddaughter. She was a loving and kind woman who will be dearly missed by all who know and loved her.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish all the wonderful memories, her sons, Wayne Joseph Lopez of Lake Arthur, LA, Mark Lewis Lopez of Jennings, LA, Mitchell Morris Sonnier of Jennings, LA; her daughter, Cynthia Lopez Carrier of Sulphur, LA; her stepsons, Steven Cary Sonnier of Mermentau, LA, Ricky Lynn Sonnier of Crowley, LA; her stepdaughters, Eva Moree Sonnier of Florida, Jenny Sonnier Johnson of Iowa, LA; as well as numerous loving & beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy is now rejoicing in heaven with her parents, Artelus & Alzena Kibodeaux LeJeune; her husband, Cary J. Sonnier; five brothers, Wilbert, Melford, Wilmer, Oran, and Lester LeJeune; two sisters, Ella Mae Stanley, and Rose Richard.

A Celebration of Life for Dorothy Mae LeJeune Sonnier of Jennings, LA will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM.
