He was married about 1786 to a woman named Jane (1762-1811), whose maiden name is unknown, but who was a native of Georgia, and together they had four known children: Lewis D. Achord, twins John Shearman Achord and Ann Achord Warren Wilson, and Jane Achord King.
His exact date of death is unknown, as he does not appear in the Savannah burial register. However, he died sometime between 27 Feb 1809, when he signed his will, and 10 Jul 1809, when it was proved. We know he was buried in Colonial Park Cemetery as his son Lewis D. Achord, who was the executor of his estate, paid the sexton Jacob Cunes $7 on 19 Feb 1811 for "interring the remains of my mother & father."
