Eugene Louis Léger passed away peacefully after a long illness at his home in Austin, TX on March 25,2022 surrounded by his wife, sons, and sisters. He was born July 31,1939 in Fitchburg, MA to Andre and Nathalie Léger.

He was preceded in death by his brother Fr. Laurie Léger, Missionary of La Salette, and his parents Andre and Nathalie Léger of Fitchburg, MA. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Sumlee; children Andre, Anthony, Mark, and Steve; daughter-in-law Maricel; granddaughters Natalee and Nicole; sisters Viola Léger, Sister Irene Léger, Doris Léger, Sister Agnes Léger, and Lilianne Léger-Maples.

Eugene was born and raised in Fitchburg, MA. He joined the Air Force in 1959 and served for 20 years, with overseas assignments where he met his wife Sumlee in Thailand. He retired to Austin, TX to raise his family and start a career as a computer programmer. He actively served as a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church joining the Knights of Columbus, serving as a greeter, and caring for the church grounds. Though he was a soft-spoken man, he often showed his affection through his sense of humor. He enjoyed summer family reunions in New Brunswick, Canada and celebrating his Acadian heritage. His gentle and kind nature left an impression on all who knew him. He generously gave of himself and readily cared for others.
