Robert Heitz, 81, formerly of Tampico, resident of Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20. He was born July 2, 1930 in Bartholomew County to the late James W. and Lydia Conrad Heitz.


Mr. Heitz was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a self-employed bricklayer. He was a member of American Legion Post 89 in Seymour, VFW Post 1083 in Crothersvllle, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 In Seymour. He loved being outdoors and fishing.


Survivors include his sister, Kathleen Oetslow of Conroe, Tex.; stepdaughter, Michelle Heitz of Seymour, several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Jessica Bush and family of Brownstown.


Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a m. Thursday, May 24, In Rlverview Cemetery, Seymour, with Chaplain Paul Huddleston officiating. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.


Zabel Funeral Home, Brownstown, is in charge of arrangements.
