He played nine years of international football for Malaysia, including playing in three Asian Games (1982, 1986, and 1990), and was a gold medalist in the South East Asian Games in 1989. After retiring in 1996, he worked as a coach and a sports broadcaster, as well as a global adviser to the Blackburn Rovers during the 2012-2013 season.
