Leroy Dixon

Funeral services for Leroy Dixon, 83, of Sulphur Springs will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Wesley Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating.

Interment will follow in the Posey Cemetery with Rick Beadles, Rodney Beadles, David Beadles, Larry Speed, Gary Speed, Billy Campbell and Mark Warren serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Lewis, Calvin Prince and the members of Wesleyan Sunday School Class at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Leroy Dixon died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1928, in Posey, the son of Clarence and Grace Campbell Dixon.

He married Diane Carlisle in Sulphur Springs on July 30, 1955. She survives.

Leroy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Hopkins County Marine Corps League Detachment 1357. He retired from the General Motors Company in Arlington after 30 years of service. Leroy was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and a member of the Administrative Board.

Other survivors include two sons, Kelly Dixon and wife, Shannon, of Wichita, Kan., and Chris Dixon and wife, Cristine, of Grapevine; one daughter, Stephanie Hensley and husband, Keith, of Burleson; grandchildren Christine Dixon, Paige Mathis, Aaron Dixon, Ryan Dixon, Layle Sidwell, Vaughn Sweet, April Hensley and Kirk Hensley; one great-grandson, Dayton Martinez; and adopted grandchildren Levi Warren and Korinna Barkok.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce Speed and JoAnn Beadles; and one infant brother.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry of the Wesley United Methodist Church, 614 Texas Street, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
